The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) request for mobile phone call data from telecommunications companies is intended to support evidence-based policymaking, particularly in improving network infrastructure, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said on Sunday (June 8).
Fahmi assured that the data does not include personal identifiers or any information that could be used to identify individuals.
He added that this more detailed approach will help the government better assess public needs and more effectively address the digital divide.
