China has more than 50 #nuclear power plant in different region of the country. China started on the working on this #thorium based powered technology in 1969. China construct a #thorium based power plant in the middle of the #Gobi Desert, in the north of China. Conventional power plant build near sea or a river, because it need a massive amount of water. But china build this thorium based nuclear power plant in gobi desert, because it need molten salt not water to cool the reactor. So that why reactor can be built on any isolated area like desert. Salt crystals are mixed with nuclear material – either #uranium or #thorium and heated to 500°C to become liquid to transport heat and energy produced.
